Visual Inspections
Today, a large number of manufacturing plants do not apply even the most basic methods to ensure the reliability of their physical assets. Sensory Inspection methods (Visual, Audible, Tactile, Olfactory) are the most basic methods available on the market today and are commonly deployed within 5S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles. Regardless of whether your organization has adopted these principles; applying sensory inspections as part of an overall assert health management initiative can drive significant results to your bottom line.
Allied can help incorporate a formal process to capture and collect many different varieties of visual observations. For example, Rounds logging offers a customized approach for trending capabilities and enables the application of allowable parameters for reporting asset health (e.g. gauge readings such as temps, pressures, process variables).
Further, an experienced and trained inspector can detect (but not limited to):
- Oil levels and condition
- Visible Leaks
- Arching/popping noises
- Bearing noise
- Temperature changes
Continuous improvement and refinement are critical to long term success.
