Barrier Seal Fluid Fill System
Centralize barrier fluid storage and delivery with a closed-loop system designed to reduce contamination, manual handling, and seal pot maintenance risk in high-pressure industrial applications.

Controlled Barrier Fluid Delivery from Bulk Storage to Seal Pots
The T.F. Hudgins Barrier Seal Fluid Fill System replaces portable pumps, open hoses, and individual drum handling with a centralized bulk-to-seal distribution platform. The system stores clean fluid under a nitrogen blanket, uses an air-powered pump to overcome back-pressure, and delivers fluid through dedicated sealed lines to help maintenance teams maintain barrier fluid levels without exposing the system to the atmosphere.
THE CHALLENGE
The Risk of Manual Filling
Relying on manual labor for seal pot maintenance (at pressures up to 500 PSI) introduces critical vulnerabilities:
- Contamination: Open hoses and reused containers introduce particulates and moisture.
- Safety Hazards: Increased personnel exposure to hazardous areas.
- Labor Inefficiency: Significant man-hours spent on routine top-offs.
- Seal Failure: Human error leading to low fluid levels, loss of pressure, improper lubrication, and thermal runaway.

HOW IT WORKS
Process Flow
The system is designed for simple, controlled operation:
1
Storage
Clean fluid is held under nitrogen pressure.
2
Activation
Operator initiates the air-powered distribution pump.
3
Distribution
Pressurized fluid moves through the distribution system to seal pots.
4
Replenishment
Fill valves at each pot are opened to restore levels without exposing the system to the atmosphere.
5
Secure Shutdown
The system is isolated once level setpoints are achieved.
This streamlined process replaces multiple manual steps with a safer, more efficient workflow.

Engineered Products
System Components
Bulk Storage Tank (BST)
A 120-gallon or larger bulk storage tank provides centralized fluid capacity. An integrated nitrogen blanket helps protect fluid purity during storage.
High Pressure Delivery
An air-powered pumping system is engineered to overcome back-pressures up to 500 PSI. Applications above this pressure should be reviewed with T.F. Hudgins.
Performance Fluid: TFH Synthetic Barrier Fluid
Pair your system with TFH High-Performance Synthetic Fluid, engineered for:
- Thermal Stability: Superior heat transfer for high-RPM seal faces.
- Low-Temp Fluidity: Reliable flow in cold-start or low-ambient conditions.
- Non-Corrosive Chemistry: Compatible with all standard metallurgy and elastomer profiles.
Contamination Control
Closed, dedicated lines reduce atmospheric exposure and help prevent particulate, moisture, and cross-contamination during fluid transfer.
Seal Pot Fill Points
Fill valves at each seal pot allow operators to restore barrier fluid levels through the closed distribution system, then isolate the system after target levels are reached.
Solutions
Centralized Automation of Barrier Fluid Delivery
The TFH Barrier Fluid Fill System (BFS) provides a turnkey, bulk-to-seal delivery distribution, eliminating the need for portable pumps and individual drum management.
Enhances Safety
Reduces “boots on the ground” on hazardous units; eliminates climbing and hose-trip hazards.
ISO Cleanliness
A closed-loop system ensures that fluid delivered to the seal meets or exceeds OEM cleanliness specifications.
Environmental Compliance
Eliminates drum residue, spills, and improper disposal risks.
Asset Reliability
Ensures consistent barrier levels for optimal heat dissipation and lubrication.
